When the Crowd Applauds

When the Crowd Applauds

As Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, he was greeted by people who looked at Him as their conquering hero. By the end of the week, the crowds would be complicit in His crucifixion. How did Jesus maintain His equilibrium and composure in the midst of wildly changing approval ratings? He kept His eyes fixed on God, the One who had called Him, the One whom He lived to please. All things, He knew, were going according to God's plan. Where is God calling you to follow in Jesus' footsteps, living for His approval, regardless of what the crowds say or do?

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”—Matthew 21:9

Prayer: Lord, let me live for Your eyes only, pleasing You, unswayed by either the approval or disapproval of the crowd. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
