  • Let Patience Have It’s Perfect Work

Challenges arise for every leader. Thorny circumstances can emerge in every leadership situation. The need for tolerance is ever present.

To lead like Jesus, we need patience. It’s one of the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), which the Apostle Paul refers to as longsuffering (possibly a more realistic term).

To lead like Jesus, we need patience

    Expectant

    Blog | Phyllis Hennecy Hendry | February 02, 2017

It was an ordinary day. I had a 6:15 a.m. flight out of Greenville, SC.  After security and on the way to my gate, I stopped by a shop to get a bottle of water.  I went to the cashier to pay and it was at that moment that ordinary became extraordinary.  I spoke to the cashier – a small woman who was doing all she could to be polite and efficient.  I asked her, “How are you today?” There was a pause. She responded, “I’m ok.”  “Just ok?” I asked. “Yes,” she said.  The next question out of my mouth just came, unintended, bare and raw, waiting to be answered.

  • Living in Great Joy

Tell me if these lyrics ring a bell:

Joy to the world! The Lord is come.
    Let earth receive her King
    Let every heart
    Prepare Him room

    Rejoice, Rejoice

Emmanuel shall come to thee oh Israel

    Good Christian men rejoice

With heart and soul and voice!
Give ye heed to what we say
    Jesus Christ is born today!

“Dear Lord, I know You can heal him if it be Your will…”

“Oh Father, would You reveal Yourself to her?”

“If it’s possible, God, will You…?”

Have you prayed prayers like these as I have? Wanting to see miracles happen, but not wanting to be disappointed? I often feel that my prayers become a spin cycle of repetition. I have less and less faith the longer I pray for something or someone until I simply cease to pray about it at all.

    Lacking Expectation
