Recognizing God’s Voice

Recognizing God’s Voice

Conversation with God—prayer—is key to leading like Jesus. Time spent in solitude, silence and Scripture trains us to recognize and respond to God’s voice. It shapes us into people who know His voice and faithfully follow Him. His relationship with His Father motivated everything He did. Even with all of the voices calling out to Him, trying to conform Him to the world’s standards, He focused on only one voice. When we, too, tune our hearts to recognize and follow God’s voice alone, we will be positioned to lead like Jesus.

The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. – John 10:3-4

Prayer: Lord, tune my heart to respond to Your voice alone so that I lead like Jesus. In His name I pray, amen.
