Hungry for Encouragement

Hungry for Encouragement

People hunger for encouragement. The prejudice and judgment that characterized bitter relationships between different ethnic and social groups in Jesus’ time continues today. Such criticism and hurtfulness isn’t just ‘out there,’ it erupts within marriages, families, organizations, and even in churches. In its wake are people who need to hear a word of encouragement from those around them, from their leaders, and especially from God. Do you want to be more sensitive to the people around you who hunger for encouragement? Ask God to teach you how to encourage others according to their needs.

So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.—Acts 15:30-32

Prayer: Jesus, make us men and women who find meaningful ways to encourage others. In Your name we pray, amen.
