Fixed on God

Fixed on God

Psalm 119 celebrates and extols the virtue of God’s Law. The author uses all the words he has to express his desire to live in a right relationship with God. He wants to live according to God’s wisdom. His heart cries out to God, His desire is clear: He doesn’t want anything to get in the way of his relationship with God. His hope in the midst of suffering and affliction, trouble and persecution, is fixed on God. Only God sustains his life. Only God gives him hope and guidance and keeps him going. What keeps you going?

Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. – Psalm 119:116-117

Prayer: Lord God, sustain me according to Your promise and purpose. Fill my heart with hope. Fill my mind with truth. Lift me up and empower me, I pray, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
