Rich and Barbara Meiss to strengthen, expand LLJ facilitator network through new role

Rich and Barbara Meiss

Lead Like Jesus is pleased to introduce Rich and Barbara Meiss as the new Directors of Leadership Development Services. In their new roles, Rich and Barbara will help mobilize, train and engage an ever-growing network of Leadership Development Facilitators so that more people will be trained and equipped to lead like Jesus.

“Rich and Barbara bring a lifetime of experience in the training and development field and a heart for ministry,” said Phyllis H. Hendry, President/CEO of Lead Like Jesus. “I am thrilled to have them on our team.”

Rich and Barbara are no strangers to Lead Like Jesus. Each became certified as LLJ Master Trainers in 2008 following the first Encounter they attended.

“We were excited about the content,” says Barbara. “We love being able to help people understand that they can be leaders according to Jesus.”

Both Rich and Barbara, who have been married for 21 years, began their professional careers in the education system and have worked for different training and management companies over the years. Today, they co-own Meiss Education Institute, a full-service training and consulting organization.

“This was so natural for us because it’s something we love to do,” says Barbara.

In their new role, the Meiss’ will be the primary contacts for LLJ facilitators.  Most importantly, they want to create a support system and camaraderie among LLJ’s vital messengers including through the annual ReConnect Conference and monthly facilitator phone calls.

“People are so spread out,” explains Rich, “so it’s hard to share ideas, discuss best practices, and encourage one another.”

“We want to help facilitators stay close to the vine,” adds Barbara.

Rich and Barbara’s two children and four grandchildren live within 15 miles of their home in Minnesota. On their hobby farm, they enjoy boarding horses, maintaining an orchard and garden, and canning their produce. They enjoy biking, traveling, and spending weekends by the lakes.

“We didn’t want to retire but rather spend our time building the kingdom,” says Rich. “We’re healthy and able,” adds Barbara. “We want to spend our time doing significant things for the Lord.”
