Growing Where Planted: Church Planters Use Literacy and Healthcare to Spread the Gospel in Nigeria

Church Planter Joy Enoch has a passion for leading like Jesus. After seeing the needs of her community, she began praying for God to help her start a literacy class for those who have been attending her Bible study groups. And God provided.

Fellow believers supported her mission by purchasing a whiteboard with markers and an eraser for the classroom. They also provided textbooks for the soon-to-be students. Because of their support, Joy could employ a teacher from a nearby village to teach the class three times per week. There are already twenty-one people signed up with more being added every day.

Joy has also sponsored two children in her community who gained admission to secondary school, but whose parents could not afford it. She paid their school fees, bought their books and sewed their uniforms.

Joy’s modeling of Jesus’ leadership in her life sparked revival. Last week, her Bible study groups saw twice as many people attending and more people coming to know Jesus than ever before.

Church Planter Iliya Mbaya is meeting the needs of his community by starting a clinic. So many don’t have access to proper healthcare and Iliya is grateful for the opportunity to help in Jesus’ name.

Many villagers took notice of the way Iliya acted towards those who have had ailments all their lives. They would come to him and ask, “Why do you talk to him?” or “How can you be seen with her?” and Iliya’s reply remains the same: “I know Jesus would talk with them.”

The community is eagerly awaiting the start of the clinic. Would you join us in praying for this new opportunity? Pray for the purchase of the land and the means to build and stock the facility. Pray for Iliya to continue leading like Jesus and sharing the gospel.

Lead Like Jesus Church Planter training has exponential impact in communities like Joy’s and Iliya’s. Just $2,000 supports a Church Planter for an entire year of training and resources. That’s only $112 per month! Would you consider giving toward this goal so others can know the power of Jesus’ leadership?
