  • Never Ending Praise

    Devotionals | December 25, 2015

All that God had set in motion from before the beginning of the world unfolds in the birth of a child. He is here! Jesus, Savior, Immanuel, the Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Son of Man, the Righteous One. Because of Him, the night skies were filled with angels, shepherds hurried to see, Mary and Joseph were propelled from obscurity onto the pages of Scripture, and countless lives have never been the same. Are you one of them? Celebrate His birth!

  • Believing is Seeing

    Devotionals | December 24, 2015

Mary knew about believing the Lord’s promises. For nine months before Jesus’ birth, she trusted God to sort out all of the details surrounding Gabriel’s announcement. She traveled to see Zechariah and Elizabeth, she told Joseph and her parents what the angel had said. She watched how they responded even as she felt the signs of new life take shape within her. With each breath she trusted God, she saw His faithfulness, and she placed her trust in Him. His promises to her proved true.

  • Let His Light Shine

    Devotionals | December 23, 2015

Many people think of holidays as anything but ‘holy days.’ Yet holidays provide opportunities to create God-centered celebrations and memories whose impact will linger far into the future. Don’t rush into or hurry past these opportunities. Let God’s presence infuse this holiday season with eternal significance. Take time to gain His perspective, focus on the people in front of you, and express God’s love to others.

We love because he first loved us.—1 John 4:19

  • Living in the Light

    Devotionals | December 21, 2015

What is your vision of life? Who or what is your God? For whom do you live? Overarching vision provides direction, undergirds decision-making, and gives meaning to otherwise ordinary or difficult tasks. Jesus' vision undergirded His intimate relationship with His Father and resulted in unflagging obedience, as He lived in light of the kingdom of God. What difference will your vision of life make in how you live today?

  • Jesus' Reading List

    Devotionals | December 18, 2015

What's on your reading list? In a day and age when copies of Scripture were rare and difficult to come by, Jesus, even as a young man, made a point of knowing the Scripture. His life mission was grounded in God's Word, what we today call the Old Testament. This knowledge strengthened Him for opposition and prepared Him to resist temptation. How familiar are you with the Bible that Jesus knew, loved and memorized?

  • Inspiration

    Devotionals | December 16, 2015

Who or what inspires you? Jesus found inspiration in His relationship with His Father, and He found fulfillment in living in light of His identity as God's Son. God's Word nourished and strengthened Him, and God's Spirit empowered Him. His life, lived in intimacy with the Father, inspired others to ask Him spiritual questions and to want to be like Him. What about you?

  • Are You Willing

    Devotionals | December 14, 2015

Jesus' starting point for ministry typically seems to be the needs of people. Consider His compassion in feeding the 4000 and 5000, healing the blind and lame, and answering the questions of ordinary people. Has He not called you, His follower, to do likewise? Who will you minister to at their point of need today?

  • Blessing from Heaven

    Devotionals | December 14, 2015

Who does God use to bless you? God wants to bless us through everyday interactions with people in our communities: work and ministry colleagues, friends and family members, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus modeled mutually-supportive human relationships with disciples and friends who blessed Him by their very presence. How are you being blessed by being in relationship with others? Who are you blessing through your interactions with them?

  • A Job Well Done

    Devotionals | December 07, 2015

What criteria do you use to evaluate yourself as a leader? John 17 records Jesus’ prayer as He assessed His season of leadership. He evaluated His personal focus on His God-given mission, His responsibility to teach His disciples what they needed to know to be successful, having protected them while they were under His leadership, and having prepared them for the future. How would you assess your leadership using these same criteria?

I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.—John 17:4

  • Facing Opposition

    Devotionals | December 04, 2015

Jesus faced opposition as He tried to influence the existing leadership system. Where did He find the stamina to keep going? He kept His eyes on the goal and maintained a close relationship with the Father. He evaluated changes, and the energy it would take to accomplish them, in light of how the results would accomplish God’s purposes. What changes are you facing today? How can you respond so that God’s purposes are accomplished in your life and in the lives of those around you?
