Unsettled times often linger longer than we wish. Like the disciples who lived in fear and confusion as Jesus was being tried and crucified, we wonder when and if the nightmare will ever end. When will things go back to the way they were? Instead of longing for the days of the past, God calls us to look for His presence here and now. Remembering who He is and whose we are steadies our hearts and transforms our perspective.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. – Psalm 46:1-3
Prayer: Lord, unsettled times seem to settle on me like a wet blanket, weighing me down and exposing me to every cold wind that blows. Remind me that I am Yours and that You are my refuge and strength. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
