Unmet Expectations

Unmet Expectations

How do you respond when you fall short of meeting people’s expectations, or when their responses fall short of meeting your expectations? Do you automatically assume a defensive posture, or do you tend to take a solution-oriented approach? When you stop and think it about it, it becomes obvious that one response flows from pride and fear, while the other flows from humility and confidence. How do you need God to refocus and reshape your responses?

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.—Romans 12:17-18

Prayer: Jesus, thank You that my self-worth is found in You, not in perfection. Thank You that You are remaking me by refocusing my priorities and expectations, both for myself and for others, too. Remake me today, so that when difficulties arise, I will do what is right in the eyes of everyone. In Your name I ask, Amen.
