They Forgot

They Forgot

Paul writes 1 Corinthians to believers who had gotten off-track. Once established in Christ Jesus, they had lost sight of Him and gotten their focus on themselves. They argued about who was the greatest and which was the greatest spiritual gift. They forgot the One who had called them out of their former self-centered lives. The One who gave Himself for them. The One who made His home within and among them. They forgot what it meant to love, live, and lead in the name of the One whose name they carried.

To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours. – 1 Corinthians 1:2

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I, too, sometimes forget. I forget that You are my life. I forget that all I am is because of You. Let me remember anew whose I am and who You call me to be, I pray. Amen.
