Moses’ word to Israel was to “be strong and courageous” in taking the Promised Land. Both Moses and the Lord called Joshua to “be strong and courageous,” as did the people of Israel as they accepted Joshua’s leadership. David called Solomon to “be strong and courageous” in building the temple. In Acts, the Lord called Paul to “take courage” as He told him to testify in Rome. It takes courage to step into a new leadership position or to follow a new leader, just as it takes courage to complete a God-given task. Where is God calling you to be courageous?
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.”—1 Chronicles 28:20
Prayer: Lord, You are the source of my strength, my confidence, and my courage. In Jesus’ name, amen.
