Stop and Search

Stop and Search

Caring for your heart is an ongoing process. Peter needed the Spirit to challenge the pride and fear and preconceived ideas that clouded his perspective. When you struggle to lead like Jesus, take a moment to examine your heart and head. Ask yourself whether pride and fear or humility and God-confidence are prompting your decisions and actions. Will you use this simple question to expose your self-centered thinking today?

He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”— Acts 10:11–15

Prayer: God, remind me to stop and search my motivation and examine my heart condition. Help me trust and obey You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
