Finding silence and solitude can be challenging. News is available all day long. Televisions seem to be everywhere, even in restaurants. Workdays hold tasks, deadlines, and meetings. Time with family members and church events easily fill up any “free” time in our calendars. When we find a moment to ourselves, we find ourselves (and others) staring at phones, video games, or computers. Jesus understands. He juggled teaching the crowds and training His disciples while serving the needy and overcoming opposition. Yet, He found time—He made time—to be alone with the Father. When will you spend time alone with God today?

Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. – Mark 6:45-46

Prayer: God, thank You for being available any time of day or night. Show me when I can meet with You today, like Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
