Sacrificial Service

Sacrificial Service

Jesus calls all of us to lives of service. At times, our commitment and obedience to Jesus’ example of servanthood places us in the center of our giftedness and we experience great joy in serving. At other times, serving comes at a cost, requiring sacrificial commitment, humility, and courage. Men and women through the ages—at home, in business, ministry, education, and civil service—have found that giving their all is worth the cost. Let’s honor Jesus and those who serve as we join them in serving others.

But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. —Matthew 20:25-27

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for those who sacrificially serve. Give me a heart to do the same. In Your name I pray, amen.
