Restless

Restless

The pace of life in our highly connected world seldom slows down of its own accord. Information, questions, and demands easily flow through the airwaves and internet into devices that we hold in our hands and carry in our pockets. The persistent restlessness and accompanying anxiety can keep us constantly on edge. Even in His day, Jesus called disciples away from the pressure of the crowd’s incessant activity. He continues to call us away today. What steps can you (and will you) take to find the rest He offers?

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”—Mark 6:31

Prayer: Jesus, I pull myself away for time with You now, desiring to experience time with You as a cure for the relentless restlessness that characterizes my life. Rejuvenate me so that I can lead like You, I pray in Your name, amen.
