Much to Learn

Much to Learn

Simon Peter’s first fishing lesson with Jesus showed him just how much he had to learn. As an experienced fisherman, Peter’s pride surfaced easily at the thought that Jesus might do a better job at catching fish than he could. Moments later, Peter was on his knees in shock and awe at Jesus’ success. This was just the first of many times that Peter had to let go of his human perspective and yield to Jesus’ way of doing things. What about you? Where does God want you to learn to trust His ways?

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”—Luke 5:4-5

Prayer: Jesus, show me where I am depending on human knowledge and personal experience. Help me learn to trust You instead. In Your name I pray, amen.
