Look for the Helpers

Look for the Helpers

Jesus warned His disciples about following the example of religious leaders of their day. These men took delight in burdening others with expectations without ever coming alongside them to help. Their focus was on personal power, titles, and recognition. But Jesus said that greatness in His kingdom was reserved for those who humbly helped others. Whose example and teaching do you follow? Do you seek personal recognition or God’s approval? When others look for helpers, can they look to you?

The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. —Matthew 23:11-12

Prayer: Jesus, my prayer today is that when You need someone—to represent You, to help one of Your own, to be Your hands and arms for the burdened and confused—that You would be able to look to me. May my heart be set on living for Your purposes and God’s glory. Make me a blessing to others, I pray in Your name, amen.
