As God Leads

As God Leads

A leader’s spheres of influence range from large to small. The world we live in tends to equate bigger with better and smaller with lesser. But God focuses on our hearts, that most personal and intimate space, where we are alone with Him. God also called Jesus into the silence and solitude of quiet places. Hard places. Counterintuitive places. Recall that Jesus didn’t immediately launch His public ministry after His baptism. Instead, the Spirit led Him into the wilderness. Time and again, Jesus rejected popular acclaim to pursue God’s purpose. Ultimately, His journey led to the cross to die a criminal’s death. Where would we be without His love, trust, and obedience?

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. – Matthew 4:1

Prayer: God, give me a good look at my heart. Show me what You see. Humility? God-confidence? Love, trust, and obedience? Change my heart, O God. Make me like Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
