The Faith of a Mother

The Faith of a Mother

Moses’ mother gave birth to him in difficult, even dangerous, circumstances. Pharaoh’s decree meant that his life was in danger from the moment of his birth. His mother did all she could to protect her son and preserve his life. When God provided for Moses’ adoption through Pharaoh’s daughter, Moses’ mother willingly assumed the role of a servant to care for him.

Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. —Exodus 2:1-3

Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving me life. May I, like Moses’ mother, humbly and courageously trust You to care for those You have given me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
