Bring Life and Peace

Bring Life and Peace

It is easy for people to rationalize their behavior: “I wasn’t feeling well . . . I was busy . . . I was having a bad day.” When it comes to other people, the human tendency is to judge more harshly: “they were wrong . . . they knew better . . . they did it on purpose.” What makes us excuse our own behavior yet condemn others? Does your behavior reflect humility or pride, grace or judgment, God’s values or your own?

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. – Romans 14:17-19

Prayer: Spirit, I want my words and actions to reflect God’s values and Your work within me. Let my heart, values, and behavior lead to peace and mutual edification. In Jesus’ name, amen.
