Our work, career, church, and community leadership roles are often the first things that come to mind when we think about leadership. These public spheres of influence may seem to offer the most potential for pointing to Jesus as the greatest leadership role model of all time. Yet few of us would say that leaders in these settings have been the most influential in our lives. Typically, our lives have been most shaped by those with whom we have close, personal relationships—parents, family members, intimate friends. Are you investing as much in your life-role leadership opportunities as you do in your formal leadership roles?
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.—Colossians 3:17.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, show us how to love, value, and serve those closest to us, so that they experience Your love, want to know You better, and follow You more closely because of us. Amen.
