Compelled

Compelled

Jesus was firmly committed to accomplishing the Father’s purpose. His disciples might not understand, others might oppose Him, but He purposefully pursued the Father’s will. Nothing derailed him. Whatever the difficulties, He would not be deterred from fulfilling His purpose in coming to live among us. The misunderstanding and rejection that marked His path did not sway Him from moving forward. He looked beyond the struggle and suffering to see the vision of the future that included God’s redemption of men and women like you and me. Love for the Father and love for us compelled Him. What compels you?

As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. —Luke 9:51

Prayer: Jesus, Your resoluteness in pursuing God’s calling brings us to our knees. Thank You. Thank You for loving us, for counting God’s vision worth the cost. As we in turn pursue God’s vision of the future, may we follow in Your footsteps. In Your Name, we pray, amen.
